CHOOSING A PRIMARY CARE PHYSICIAN (PCP)

Do you need a PCP?
You may go to one or more specialists, but you should still have a PCP for routine checkups and health screenings. Finding the right doctor will depend on your unique personality and specific needs. Two equally skilled doctors may give you two very different experiences but a good PCP will talk to you about preventive care, explain things clearly and spend plenty of time with you so you won't feel rushed.

Read our ABCs on PCPs Fact Sheet to learn more about the importance of having a PCP and some helpful tips for selecting the doctor that is right for you. Be sure your selection makes you feel comfortable, confident, and able to take charge of your health.
